Your Moment Of Power Is Now

Ancient wisdom from many cultures, and cutting-edge scientific experiments performed in modern labs both point to the incredible power of observing the present moment. Tapping into this simple practice can set you free from all obstacles and empower you to manifest everything you desire.

Most people spend their time living in a past that is forever gone and a future that hasn’t even been realized yet. For some reason we seem intent on avoiding the present moment with all manner of daydreams and self-distractions.

However, when we allow our minds to be free from regret and anxiety, and focus clearly on the present moment, we have access to the virtually limitless power of mindfulness. By simply deciding to be aware of our bodies, thought processes, and surroundings without getting lost in our internal chatter, we open the door to an abundance of new possibilities.

Enhanced physical energy, the ability to focus our attention more sharply and think more clearly, and a heightened sense of intuition are only a few of the benefits we gain as we practice daily mindfulness. By mindfulness, I simply mean the activity of paying attention to what we are doing in the present and letting our minds flow freely without participating in the “mental movies” that make up much of our day.

You can begin this sacred yet simple exercise immediately just by taking account of what you are doing right now.

Feel the physical sensation of your body in the chair.

Allow yourself to hear the sounds around you without becoming distracted.

Read the words on this screen and watch your mind flow without interruption.

Give it a try. You’ll find yourself slipping back into a state of distraction after only a few seconds.

It’s amazing how difficult it can be for our minds to simply stop chattering away at us and pay attention for as little as five minutes! But with practice it becomes easier, and your whole life begins to open up in a way you never imagined possible.

Key to this entire process is the ability to observe your thoughts as they occur and not become attached to them. Your conscious mind flows like a never-ending stream, and a big part of its job is to identify and analyze everything in your world; but you don’t have to identify with or be influenced by every thought you have.

In fact you can choose to entertain only those thoughts that empower your purpose! But that will be the topic of another article.

For now I want to emphasize the practice of stepping back from your thoughts and becoming immersed in your present reality as it unfolds. In addition to wonderful improvements such as greater energy, focus, and love of life, I believe this practice further empowers you to define your personal destiny.

Through Quantum mechanics, researchers have found that a human being can affect the behavior of electrons and atoms by the mere act of observing them! Consider the astonishing ramifications of this statement.

Science has proven that we can directly influence physical reality with thought alone. And the daily practice of being mindful and aware of the moment makes it far easier for us to focus our intentions as we observe the natural flow of life.

Commanding The Power Of Our Thoughts

April 21st, 2008 Other Authors Posted in Healing & Forgiveness, Mind & Its Power, Positive Thinking, attitude, metaphysics, mind shift, mindset, power of intention, spontaneous healing, thought control No Comments »

I have been going through a huge mind-shift in the last couple of months. I don’t knot if it is since the last full moon in March 2008, where a lot of spontaneous healing took place regarding inner child work, if it has to do with the Ph D in metaphysics that I am currently studying, or if it perhaps has to do with having won my local speech contest as part of my dream of becoming a motivational speaker… but the truth is that my mind has shifted from a place where self-doubt would eat away at my courage to do new things, to a place where I can command my thoughts and not pay attention to that debilitating fear whenever I am faced with a new challenge.

The other day my husband came home saying that they were going to rise petrol prices, yet again, and in quite a considerable amount. He then proceeded to go on to say how scientists now know that it is too late to avoid the melt down of the Poles, that all that can be done is to slow it down, that the sea levels will rise and that resources of the Earth will be all but run out within the next 50 years.

I heard him. I know the story, We all know the story.

Thank God we have a little car and at the moment it is not that expensive to fill it up. Yes, we do try to do our best to conserve energy. Yes, we are conscious of recycling, organic food, not wasting resources (especially water), and have only one child as our contribution to this overpopulated world.

If I had been my old self, automatically a feeling of fear and despair would have taken me over and it would have taken me quite a while to overcome it. I would maybe have even shed a few tears and would have had to sit down for a while in order to put myself together emotionally, or have a bath, or go for a walk, or meditate. My mind would have run far away into my daughter’s future and I would have felt so sad for what she might have to endure…

But my new mindset, newly-achieved thought control attitude, kicked in straight away and I told him:
“Yes, this is real. But I believe that we live in a holographic world and that really what you believe comes true. All you will ever have is the power of your thoughts to command in order to create the reality you want to experience. Start training your mind so that all what you have just mentioned may never have to be experienced by us”.

For the first time he stayed quiet. He did hear me and nodded. In the past, his law-and-finance mindset would simply look at the proof and nothing I could say would make him shift this perspective. However, as I said, there has been a lot of inner child healing since the last March full moon and he was ready, this time, to come along to the light and become light himself.

And so when I won the local speech contest in my Toastmasters club, I immediately visualized representing my club in the area contest. Usually, in the past, I would fear the event and would hope and wish to win this second series, especially because I am really focused on becoming a motivational speaker and this could be a great opportunity. Yet, this time, I turned my thinking around and said out loud “I am a winner”; that no matter whatever I do, I am right on track towards my life missions, whether it looks as winning or loosing, success or failure. That, at some level, I have attracted the necessary lesson for my growth.

That my words carry the intention of transmuting negativity into positive energy, therefore, whenever I have an opportunity to speak in public, I win. Dr Wayne W. Dyer says in The Power of Intention that “one individual who lives and vibrates to the energy of optimism and a willingness to be non-judgmental of others will counterbalance the negativity of 90,000 individuals who calibrate at the lower weakening levels”. So, in my mind, I am doing a great service beyond the material and social standards of success. Beyond fame and name, I am spiritually successful by counterbalancing or canceling out the energy of so many individuals who live in fear of scarcity and who believe that “you must take before someone else takes from you”. Just the mentality that is raiding the earth from its resources!?

Two days ago I received a call, out of the blue, from a magazine editor who wanted to offer me a job as a freelance writer and sub-editor. I was over the moon! It was my dream job.
But in the past I had written for this magazine and I had been warned this individual was not very trust-worthy. As it was, although originally the idea was that there were tight deadline requirements, they needed me desperately and I should start working straight away, a few days passed by and I wasn’t contacted about when and where to start such job.

In the past, I would have been a bundle of nerves. I would have despaired and would have been very angry at being let down or this individual not being very professional, or many other like judgments. However this time, I stated to the Universe that I am not that desperate for anything (that’s to say, I don’t have a need for this job, even if it is my dream job, a very powerful place to be!).

In the past, I would have been thinking about it all the time: what if scenarios, right and wrong discussions, the Universe is not being fair on me again self-pity statements, etc. We all do it! Very disempowering thoughts. However, this time, I stated to the Universe that I would not GIVE IT A SECOND THOUGHT! Literally! Since my energy is mine to give or not to give.

Firstly, I turned my old thinking on its head and I stated From now on, I only work with people with integrity.
Secondly, I thought that the Universe was giving me the present of letting me know that my writing is ready for the world, that somebody was prepared to pay me for my services as a writer and sub-editor, therefore I could see myself at this level.

Thirdly, I knew that if this opportunity had been aborted, it meant that at some level it was not in my best interest for spiritual growth, so I told myself that my guides had blocked it from reaching me and that something better was on its way to me. A lesson in acceptance of what it is, as it is. And a lesson in self-acceptance: I stated to myself that I will accept my creation, exactly as it is, even when I don’t understand it or when it doesn’t seem to be a positive one.

And so, one can see, that we are free to choose our thoughts and that our attitude shapes our destiny.

I command the energy of my thoughts is a statement or affirmation that I currently use and will continue to do so until my whole psychic has shifted into this new level of personal power and spiritual understanding. Maybe not very comforting for the ego… but truly very liberating!

Thoughts to Make You Feel Good

April 12th, 2008 Other Authors Posted in Ann Stewart, God, Healing & Forgiveness, Life, Mind & Its Power, Positive Thinking, Spirituality, happiness, mind, negative attitudes, negative thoughts, psalm 103, unforgiveness No Comments »

Are you bombarded with negative thoughts, feelings of inadequacy, and maybe even shame about the past? How do you feel?

Stop! Just for a moment stop and catch yourself thinking. Yes, catch your thoughts, as it were. Do you hear negative chatter about what you perceive others are thinking about you? Is it a one-way conversation, or are you in agreement? Are the not-so-good perceptions interspersed with feel-good kind of thoughts about yourself?

It’s good and very therapeutic to take yourself to task like this every once in a while. How your own thoughts influence you has an awful lot to do with your physical, emotional and even spiritual well-being!

Maybe you’re the tragic victim of a troubled childhood, constantly or often rehearsing all the hurt you went through. The constant replay in your mind may have led you to believe that bad things happened because you must have been bad as a child. Consequently, having heard those messages over and over again, by now you may be convinced that you do not deserve happiness.

But, God does not see you as you may perceive others are seeing you and how you see yourself! As the heaven is high above the earth, so great is His mercy toward them that fear Him. As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed your hurt from you. Like a father pities his children, so the Lord pities those who fear [show reverential awe towards]Him! In fact, He will even extend His righteousness unto your children’s children! (Psalm 103: 11-13; 17)

So you’re asking, what does all this have to do with health and nutrition? So much more than you may think! Your total well-being and physical health are all bound up together: mind, spirit and body.

You may be doing all the fitness exercises and taking all the vitamins in the world. However, if you allow past hurts, unforgiveness and offenses to control your life, you will continue to be bent over with the emotional baggage. Even though you may be smiling and gorgeous on the outside, the emotional strain will eventually take a toll on your physical health!

Take courage, my friend! All is not lost; there is hope! Negative thoughts will try to enforce a negative opinion of yourself and/or giving you perceived ‘permission’ to be negative and downhearted. However, those thoughts, or negative attitudes, can be broken! Once you recognize the kind of internal conversation you are regularly having with yourself, you can tell that ‘accuser’ to lay off! You now have uncovered the culprit and can make a decision not to associate with it any longer.

Choose to hang out with positive people and learn to find the good in both yourself and others. It may take a bit of practice and getting used to, especially if you’ve been in a rut for a long time.

God is not wrong when He says He loves you unconditionally! Allow Him to tell you how well you are loved. His Love will flow through you to others, and you will start feeling good all over.

Affirmation of Undamaged Spirituality

April 7th, 2008 Cheryl Petersen Posted in Cheryl Petersen, God, Healing, Meditation, Mind & Its Power, Spirituality, affirmation, experience, intuition No Comments »

It was a beautiful Sunday afternoon in October. I was cleaning the horse stables with a front-end loader. This large piece of farm equipment was familiar to me, having operated it for years on the farm. So, it was rather surprising when the engine blew up in flames, completely filling the cab with fire. Intuition caused me to reach for the only small opening out. I climbed up and out of the opening, jumped over the moving wheels, and crashed onto the gravel road, face first.

What do I remember when the flames engulfed me?

Asking what was going on. Feeling a mental affirmation that everything would be okay. Quietness. And, taking the stance that God is my life.

I was taken to the emergency room. The emergency room doctor reviewed my X-rays and came to tell me, “Your liver is bleeding, which generally is fatal. I need to find a surgeon to operate on you.”

While the surgeon was being located, I mentally reaffirmed that my life is connected to the undamaged Spirit, the source of spirituality.

The laws behind spirituality have proven to be a vital force in my human experience. And, that October afternoon, spirituality guided my consciousness to focus on the qualities of appreciation and honesty. This precluded me from thinking based on fear and dread.

The surgeon came to my room and introduced himself; he examined the monitors, reading my vital signs. With happy amazement he told me, “Your liver is stabilizing.” This actually allowed more time for them to get the operating room ready and also allowed me more time to digest the food in my stomach so it would be empty for the operation.

The operation that was never necessary!

Spirituality was already painlessly operating in my thought. Spiritual ideas from a book I regularly study, “Science and Health,” by Mary Baker Eddy, were being verified as legitimate. A few main ideas are that Spirit is all-in-All, our infinite source of being, and people are spiritual beings. Our spirituality can be, and is, discovered to be supreme, positively influencing human mortals to heal and experience the truth of undamaged Spirit, God.

Physically, I was unable to do anything on my own. A catheter was put in. I had fractures, a useless arm, a badly injured eye that was swollen shut, and I had second degree burns on half of my face (the side I landed on the gravel road with). However, metaphysically, I was active. I was honest with the surgeon. He realized that meditation was a significant factor in my life. Yet, from a practical standpoint, if fear ever blocked me from praying and my body began reverting into danger, we would reconsider our actions.

I sincerely appreciated the nurses who carefully and compassionately removed the gravel from the burned side of my face. The nurses cleaned my face in intervals, instinctively supporting the fact that mind and body work in unity. The nurses never pushed my mind into the realm of painful irritated thinking and my body healed quickly. The body could not help but conform to mind; to their compassion and my appreciative thought.

Pain relievers were unnecessary the entire time, throughout all the care, cleaning, and healing. After the second day, I was taken out of the ICU and put in a room of my own.

My husband took me home on the third day. Within three weeks I was taking care of my family, working, and even took a snowmobile out for a ride on the weekend. There is no scarring from the burns.

During this particular healing, it became solidly evident to me to revise “Science and Health,” first published in the year 1875. This book contains timeless, universal principles that are available to everyone throughout time. Therefore, the next ten years were filled with research, meditation, work, and spiritual growth. The result of this interesting work is “21st Century Science and Health.”

The energy of our tremendous cosmos mimics the energy of spirituality, advancing and expanding human beings into the possibility of non-intrusive healing. Affirmation of the ideas found in “21st Century Science and Health” are useful. We recognize, and can substantiate, more humaneness, more enlightenment, and our undeniable, undamaged spiritual nature.

Practice Positive Self Talk and Affirmations

March 24th, 2008 Other Authors Posted in Affirmations, Dreams, Mind & Its Power, Personal Development, Sheri Falcone, affirmation, positive affirmation, positive self talk, positive thoughts, prosperity, self image, self worth, success No Comments »

Practicing self talk means giving purpose to your positive reinforcement, motivation and recognition. This is the same talk you would give a friend so be kind and give it to yourself. Congratulate yourself when you have a success and remember all your abilities, accomplishments, strengths and skills. I suggest you make yourself an accomplishment board or journal and record all your successes — both small and large. Review your progress periodically and acknowledge where you have gone and keep an eye on where you are still going.

Use your self talk as a tool for success. Make it work for you. What you repeatedly say to yourself has a profound impact on your self worth and performance as well as eventual successes. Remember that your subconscious records all your thoughts and triggers physiological responses to match the images and thoughts you have of yourself. Make this work for you by keeping your self talk positive and reinforcing it with positive affirmations. For example, I did a great job on the research project my boss asked me to do. The research gave him the valuable information he needed to make an informed decision. I enjoyed doing this research and look forward to being asked again. My work is done in a professional manner and informative and complete.

As well as keeping your thoughts positive, it is imperative that you stop the negative chatter. Your mind records the negative chatter as easily as it does the positive talk. Your subconscious believes your negative chatter when it is repeated in your mind over and over. If you catch yourself using negative chatter, stop and rephrase what you said in a positive manner. Eliminate the negative words. Focus on using positive terms and affirmations.

Make your positive self talk and communications an everyday habit. A habit is created if you do something 21 days in a row. It is truly a very short time to focus and create a habit of ensuring positive self image. Try making small changes in your vocabulary. Substitute the phrase “I will try” with “I will”, or “I should do” with “I will do”. Try saying “I want or desire to” or “I choose to” instead of “I must”. “I can” instead of “I can’t”. Just the shift in some of our common terminology makes a huge difference in our subconscious and self image. Watch what you say during the day and see how many words that you say have a negative connotation to them. Learn how you can rephrase those statements as you acknowledge them.

Focus your positive thoughts with affirmation statements. These are the reminders that will help you achieve your goals and success. They are the positive mental sticky notes that will motive your mind to work for you instead of against you.

Here are a few tips on how to use the powerful affirmation tools as mental reminders. * Use personal statements. Use “I” or your own name. * Keep your statement short, sweet and to the point. * Phrase your statements in a positive way. Remember the mind accepts the truth as it is worded. Use only positive words — leave out the negatives. I.e. I will not be late for work today vs. I will be on time for work today. * Use a positive emotion in your statement. This excites me or I feel wonderful. Positive emotion strengthens the affirmation. * Phrase affirmation statements as facts instead of a wish. Complete your statement as if the goal has already been attained. Your mind believes mental messages and works to make them a reality even if they are not right now. * State your affirmations at least 6-8 times during the day. Start by waking up with a positive thought, in the shower, brushing your teeth, driving to work, taking a lunch break, before going into a meeting, cooking dinner, getting ready for bed. There are literally hundreds of opportunities throughout the day when you can think of a quick affirmative thought. It is very important to start and end your daily with positive affirmations. It sets the tone for the day and closes the day with a positive thought. Repetition is the key to habit. Repetition enhances self confidence and stimulates your mind to help achieve your goals.

I cannot emphasize enough the power self talk and positive affirmation statements can have upon the quality of your life. They propel you towards your goals that you have identified and desire to accomplish. Even if you work hard every day, without goals, your life is without direction. It is like a ship without a rudder sailing aimlessly through the seas.

Use these powerful tools of positive talk and positive affirmation statements to help speed and direct you toward your dreams and desires.

Develop Your Intuition

January 26th, 2008 Other Authors Posted in Meditation, Mind & Its Power, intuition No Comments »

Honing your intuition can help you in making better choices in life because the more information you have about something, the better decisions you can make, the faster you may be able to reach your goals, and enable yourself to live more fulfilling life.

Intuition is defined as the power or ability of attaining direct knowledge or cognition without evident rational thought and inference. Intuitive knowledge is considered to be knowledge which cannot be gained either by inference or observation, by reasoning or past experience. As such intuitive knowledge is thought of as independent, original knowledge.

Many years ago I was in a coffee shop where I overheard a man having a spirited and very loud conversation with someone about the nature of intuition. He argued that intuitive knowledge is based on observational skills. While the information obtained through observational skills is excluded from the above definition about intuition, many times people do acquire tremendous amount of information purely through observation and then they appear to be “psychic”. Many “fake psychics” simply rely on their observational skills. These skills are also known as “cold reading” and are employed by stage magicians.

Our subconscious minds register all information from our surroundings and most of that information is gathered outside our conscious awareness. When some of that information emerges in our conscious awareness, it may seem that it came from higher realms because we had no awareness of ever acquiring it consciously.

People who are working on developing their intuition often practice different ways of improving their observational skills. Honing one’s observational skills is one of the essential skills in the practice of Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), where you learn to pay attention to minute changes in skin color, pupil dilation, slight changes in lip size, referred to in NLP as “minimal cues”. These skills come in very handy when people play poker, for example. Since poker players have vested financial interest in the outcome of the game, they pay attention to “minimal cues” of other players, in order to notice when other players may be bluffing or when they might have a winning hand.

NLP Practitioners sometimes engage in the following exercise, which I believe started with Dr. Milton Erickson. One person would hide an object, and the other would play the role of a “psychic” by holding the wrist of the person who hid the object. The “psychic” would rely on slight changes in the pulse of the person who hid the object, to guide him toward the recovery of the hidden object.

Some people are more “intuitive” by nature. Some are intuitive in a way that they find it easier to absorb the information from their environment through what seems like osmosis. They may have difficulty focusing on one thing and may be labeled with attention deficit disorder, yet their way of processing information may be perfectly suited to certain occupations. For example, I have a friend who is an extraordinary private investigator. He excels at what he does perhaps mainly due to his ability of being aware of the information that other private investigators miss. He naturally absorbs information from the environment as if thorough osmosis. From the perspective of brainwaves, people with this talent have predominant theta brainwave activity.

Some people are more naturally intuitive in a way that they can access the information related to different times, places or dimensions of experience, which are clearly not in any way associated with where they may be physically. On the level of the mind, there is no time and no space and we are all free to access the information about anything we greatly desire to know, from any dimension of existence, from past, present or future. The only obstacle in this process are the “filters” we have placed in our subconscious minds.

The secret in acquiring this kind of information is in allowing it to emerge into your conscious awareness, in having your mind blank, open and receptive like a crystal clear glass, so that the information gained is not colored by your preconceived ideas or emotions. Genuine spiritual masters, who have no more any self-interests, who have nothing more to emotionally protect and have fully opened themselves to the infinite, can access the information that to the rest of us borders on miraculous. On the other hand, there are so many people who may be “channelingl” the information from different realms, however the information that comes through is polluted by their own preconceived ideas and is no better than any guess they might have made based on their rational understanding. True spiritual knowledge is always rooted in love and in the principle of oneness - there are no exceptions.

We are all intuitive to a greater or lesser extent and whatever your level of intuitive ability, you can develop it further. Developing intuition is based on learning to pay attention to the information within you. For example, if you were trying to decide between two job offers, as you imagine yourself working in one position and then in the other, the right choice would look brighter, it would feel more joyous, it would make you feel lighter and it would bring with it a great experience of inner peace and contentment. If you were picking lottery numbers or stocks in which you desire to invest, or winning horses at the racetrack - again through experience you would learn to distinguish between the information that comes from your intuitive knowledge and the one that comes from your rational mind. As a general guideline, when this information comes from your rational mind there is a sensation of tension, a sensation of your energy shrinking and condensing as you are subconsciously trying to protect your financial self-interest. When you are in a state of mind where you are trying to protect your ego-based self-interests, you are closing the door of your intuition. What opens you to your intuition is getting into a state of love, into a state of giving, into a state of relaxation and expansion, where you feel at-one-with-everything and particularly at-one with the subject of your intuition., where you become it inwardly.

One simple way of practicing intuition on daily basis is choosing for practice subjects in which you don’t have any vested interest and the outcome is not important for you. This makes it easier for you to maintain an open state of mind necessary for practicing intuition. You may try to intuit what someone you are going to meet is wearing, or if the phone rings who may be calling you, or if you are going to some new place, try to intuit how does that place look like before you go there; or you can pick a magazine with pictures and try to intuit what picture or information will you find several pages ahead. In this way you will condition your subconscious mind to provide you with the information that is not ordinarily accessible to you through your physical senses.

Your Mind It Matters

January 22nd, 2008 Other Authors Posted in Mind & Its Power, desires, mind over matter, positive thoughts No Comments »

Did you know by conquering your fears you can turn your dreams into reality? Get anything you want in life by simply unleashing the full powers of your mind!

Do you believe in your heart that you can attain anything? You can if you allow your mind and heart to believe you can! Only you have the power – the power to mold your personality, the power to shape your future according to the lifestyle you wanted to live, and the power to create your destiny.

Think about it, no one can shape you but you! Have you ever thought about how powerful you truly are? Maybe, you are capable of achieving, accomplishing and attaining your heart’s deepest desires – just by allowing the hidden powers of your mind break free from fear!

I stumbled upon a book title “I Can. Therefore, I Will! Unleashing the Full Potentials of Your Mind” that taught me how to do just that! I learned to train my mind how to create positive reality through positive thoughts.

One of my favorite quotes says, “If you think you can or you can’t, you’re right.”

I have no doubt, that I can accomplish anything if I put my mind and heart into it. You can do the same. The only problem is that many people do not know how to use their minds to their best advantage.

Is there any instance in your life that you refuse to do a particular job, say joining a beauty contest or singing in front of a crowd, because you think you cannot do it? Recently while on a cruise, I attended karaoke night and to my amazement, there were people with good singing voice but plenty with not so good singing voice. What made them sing those with not so good singing voice?

Simple, they thought they could sing and that is all that truly matters. My opinion is just that my opinion and they did not care about my opinion. Their mind told their heart they could sing.

You are at the starting line and the finishing line right now. Whether you choose to run the track, determines your strength.

You have not started the competition yet, but you have already lost because you did not make an attempt.

That is true! Losing is not about being able to win; it is more about not trying. Therefore, the moment you say ‘no’ to something, it is just as bad as giving up and accepting your failure. As long as you run, the race is what counts not what position you place.

Success is not always achieving your goal, or winning award; rather, it is getting up after you have fallen and never losing hope to finish what you once started.

“When at first you do not succeed, try, try again”. Really, there is no harm in trying.

The harm is not believing in you can – deciding you are worthless and insignificant!
When you do not believe in yourself – what you can be or what you can do – then you having thoughts such as I am not good enough, or I cannot really do that.

The mind is powerful. Once these thoughts enter your system, they will turn into reality!
You see live or death, good or evil, right or wrong, I can or I cannot are only two choices which one you choose is what you will believe.

Fill your mind with positive thoughts and it will fill your heart with courage that will fill your life with love, joy, peace and happiness.
