Updating the Blog and Adding New Articles

May 8th, 2009 Remez Sasson Posted in General, articles, blog No Comments »

In case you are wondering why the blog has not been updated for more than a week, the reason is that I have been very busy for the last few weeks, and therefore had little time writing new articles for the blog and the website. I have also a lot of mail to take care of, which I intend to read and reply. I believe I will have more time from next week.

Slumdog Millionaire

March 4th, 2009 Remez Sasson Posted in General, Slumdog Millionaire No Comments »

A few days ago I went to the cinema with my wife and friends, to see the film Slumdog Millionaire. It is an interesting film, and we have enjoyed watching it, but it very different from the usual Hollywood movies.

The plot runs around the show “Who Wants to be a millionaire”, and shows the life story of a simple, uneducated 18 years old orphan from the slums of Mumbay, who takes part in show, and surprisingly has all the correct answers. This raises the suspicion that someone is helping him, and so, while being integrated by the police, he reveals how he knew each answer. The film is built of a series of flashback to the hero’s earlier life, all connected with the right answers to the questions of the show.

Through these flashbacks we learn about Jamal Malik, the hero of the film, about the other characters, and see different aspects of life in India. We are introduced to Jamal and his brother Salim, who became orphans when their mother was killed, and to Latika, another orphan. We see them, as they grow older, engaging in all kinds of jobs, and going through all kinds of situations.

Everything moves very fast in the film, from one scene to another and from one incident to another, not allowing any development of the character and behavior of the heroes’ of the film, yet the plot, sights, sounds and action are riveting and hold the attention of the spectators throughout the whole film.

I recommend watching the film.

Director: Danny Boyle
Jamal, main actor: Dev Patel
Latika, main actress: Freida Pinto

Articles Directory on Personal Development, Spirituality, New Age

January 7th, 2009 Remez Sasson Posted in General, Personal Development, Spirituality, articles directory, new age No Comments »

I have added an article directory to the website, where you can find articles on personal development, spirituality, meditation, new age, achieving success and other topics. It is a separate section of the website, and includes articles written by various authors and experts.

Actually, there was a section called “Guest Articles”, but now it has been renamed “Articles Directory”, the articles have been arranged according to topics and new articles were added.

I intend to add to this directory many more articles and more topics that have to do with inner development. I intend to make it a directory of good quality articles, with practical information and advice.

You can find the articles directory at:
www.successconsciousness.com/articles/topics-articles.html

You can also find it through a link present on each page of the website, in the right side menu.

Money and Retirement Mistakes

January 4th, 2009 Remez Sasson Posted in General, money, retirement No Comments »

There are a lot of people, who do not save money, spent too much, or do not invest their money properly, and when they grow old, they do not possess enough money to retire and have therefore to continue working into old age. They overlook simple, important facts and therefore ruin their chances to retire.

I have found an interesting and educative article that addresses this issue at Yahoo! Finance. It speaks about the common mistakes people do that prevent them from being able to retire. Acknowledging these mistakes and doing something about them can improve the chances of being able to retire.

8 ways to ruin your chances to retire
By Sheyna Steiner

If 50 is the new 30, then 80 must be the new 60. Good thing, because otherwise a lot of people won’t be retiring before they draw their last breath.

Last year Bankrate’s Financial Literacy survey found that one in five people expect to work until they die. This year one in five people say they’re afraid they’ll never be able to retire. It’s true; we asked the same question two different ways, and the results are unsettlingly identical.

At this rate, the competition for greeting jobs at Wal-Mart will be as fierce as the struggle to get into Harvard.

For the dedicated workers who aspire to devote their entire lives to propelling the economy forward with their unceasing toil, the dream of not retiring can be achieved in any number of ways. We came up with eight.

How To Establish A Budget

November 9th, 2008 Remez Sasson Posted in General, budget No Comments »

Do you know how much money you earn and how much you spend?
Do you earn more than you spend?
Do you know where your money is going?

These are questions you should ask yourself in order to establish a personal or family budget, and keep track your earnings and your expenditure. Establishing a budget can help you keep track of every amount of money that comes in or goes out, and helps you save money and reduce debt.

A personal or family budget provides understanding of your expenses, and how you can reduce them. It helps you manage your income so it meets or exceeds expenses.

1) Start by summing up all the expenses of last month and compare the amount to the amount you earned. If you earned more than you spend that’s great, but if your expenses were higher than your earnings, consider this as a red flag, warning you to rectify the situation.

2) Divide your list of expenses into two lists, one list covering fixed bills and expenses on clothing, transportation, services and food, and another list for other expenses, such as entertainment, restaurants or vacations. Find out where you can cut off, where you can postpone the purchase, and which of these expenses are not really necessary.

We Have Moved

July 25th, 2008 Remez Sasson Posted in General No Comments »

I had no time to write lately, as we were busy moving to a new place. The guys from the moving company came on Monday, loaded everything on their truck and carried everything to our new place. We are now still unpacking the crates, so this post will be short. I hope to write again regularly for the blog in a few days.

Packing the House

July 19th, 2008 Remez Sasson Posted in General No Comments »

The time for moving away is approaching very quickly. As I mentioned in an earlier post, we are moving to another town next week.

Packing everything takes quite a long time. You discover stuff you forgot about, books you have never read and clothes that you don’t need anymore. We are working quite hard to be ready in time, before the transportation guys arrive with their truck.

It is usually the packing that takes time. Unpacking I believe and hope is easier and faster.

Well, I don’t have time to write more now, because I need to continue packing. If you have sent me email, there will be some delay in responding, but I hope to get to it in a few days.

Moving to Another Town

July 9th, 2008 Remez Sasson Posted in General No Comments »

I am now in the middle of packing everything, because we are moving to another town. It is strange how much stuff one collects and never uses, until one moves away and has to decide what to do with the stuff. Often, we just store in our drawers, wardrobe or storage room, all kind of stuff we don’t really need, but we which we don’t want to throw away. The time of moving is a great time to get rid of all this unnecessary stuff.

I once read somewhere that when you clean up your house of unnecessary or not so useful stuff, new stuff comes in. Even if you just clean up a drawer, sometimes, money or something else comes in. It might sound strange, but I have seen this work. By creating a physical vacuum, you make space for something new to come in. There is a mental explanation to this phenomena, but this should be the subject of a different article.

Anyway,in two weeks time we are moving to a different town and there is a lot of work to do, sorting out things, packing everything into crates, and then moving to the new address, unpacking and putting everything in place.

How to Make the Forum More Active?

June 21st, 2008 Remez Sasson Posted in General, forum No Comments »

Has anyone any idea how to make SuccessConsciousness’s forum more active, and how to increase the number of registered and active users?? There are now about 890 registered users, but many are inactive, who have never posted a single post. As with many forums, there are more visitors than active participants. I would like to add that the number of the forum’s registered users doesn’t even come near to the number of daily visitors to the website, which is a much higher number.

There are several subjects discussed on the forum, which cover various topics related to the website:

1. Positive thinking, creative visualization.
2. Self improvement.
3. Achieving success.
4. The Inner Powers.
5. Spiritual growth, meditation, nonduality, Advaita Vedanta.
6. General, off-topic subjects.

What do you think need to be changed, added or improved? Do you think the forum’s script need to be changed, its color, the topics or something else? Do you have any suggestions how to make the forum more active?

There are many people interested in the topics that the forum covers, as evidenced by the number of visitors to the website, and by the articles they read. A more active forum, with more people posting their comments, questions and answers, and sharing their experiences, can benefit everyone.

You can either:

1. Post a comment at this blog.

2. Send us a message.

3. Discuss this subject at the forum, under the ‘general, off-topic subjects’.

Thank you for your help.

Creative Thinking and Imagination

April 10th, 2008 Remez Sasson Posted in Creative Visualization, General, nikola tesla No Comments »

Nikola Tesla was great inventor, who developed the induction motor, new types of generators and transformers, a system of alternating current power transmission, fluorescent lights, and a new type of steam turbine.

Nikola Tesla was born on July 9, 1856, in the village of Smiljan, in Croatia, which was then part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, and in 1891 became a U.S. citizen.

Nikola Tesla was known for his unusual mental abilities. He had a photographic memory and was able to use creative visualization with an unusual and practical intensity. He describes in his autobiography how he was able to visualize a particular apparatus and was then able to actually test run the apparatus, disassemble it and check for proper action and wear.

During the manufacturing phase of his inventions, he would work with all blueprints and specifications in his head. The invention invariably assembled together without redesign and worked perfectly.

It is said that Nikola Tesla slept one to 2 hours a day and worked continuously on his inventions and theories without benefit of ordinary relaxation or vacations. He was able to judge the dimension of an object to a hundredth of an inch and perform difficult computations in his head without benefit of slide rule or mathematical tables.

Last evening I went to see a performance of the Irish dance group Spirit of the Dance. As I understand, Spirit of the Dance is not one dancing group, but several groups under the same name, which are touring the world, and giving the same performance in various places around the world.
