My Halloween Treat – A Lesson In Giving From My Daughter

November 3rd, 2008 Edward Mills Posted in Energy, Personal Growth, daughter, fear, giving, halloween No Comments »

Halloween Pumpkins

I hope you had a fun and festive Halloween. My daughter, Ella, was a Forest Fairy this year. She was pretty darn cute (and I’m not biased in the least!)

And I’m pleased to say that she still seems to enjoy giving out candy to the kids who come to our house more than getting the candy when we go trick-or-treating. We’re not a big candy-eating household, so it’s nice to see that she is happy to give the stuff away.

But on a deeper level, it’s nice to know that she still intuitively understands the joy of giving, of flowing energy out into the world. And she truly is flowing energy out, both in the form of the candy (remember, everything is energy) but also in the form of the sheer joy and passion that she brings to her job as official candy hander-outer! There is some serious energy flowing out of her when she jumps for joy each time she puts a handful of candy into a bag!

And her happiness is contagious. There were four adults hanging out watching her and all of us were smiling and laughing with her as she ran to the door each time she heard another group coming up the front steps.

Even most of the serious and normally aloof high school boys, dressed up in their blood-stained, scary-faced costumes could not keep a straight face as they saw this little ball of joy running to greet them, not scared, not put off by their costumes, but giggling with joy as she gave them candy.

What a beautiful and rich reminder she gave us all. How true, and how easy it is to forget, that joy is shared when giving is done with an open heart.

And in this environment, when so many people are focusing on holding on tighter to what they have, it is an incredibly important lesson!

What can you give away today? What can you do to send a message to the universe and to your own immensely powerful subconscious mind that YOU are full? What type of energy can you offer to the world today?

Most people are focused on what is leaving their lives. Most people are focused on how they can hold onto what they have.

If you can go against that flow and focus on what you can share, what you can give away, you will be one of the few who is truly able to leverage the laws of the universe to attract more of what you desire in this time of fear, scarcity, and lack.

So today, perhaps right now, ask yourself what you can give. It could be as simple as sending a loving thought to someone you know, or sending out a thank you note to someone in your life.

Take time today to flow energy out into the world and let yourself remember what it feels like to be open, to share, to let go of the holding. Release your grip on what you have and focus on what you can share.

You will immediately feel the difference!

The Law of Attraction, Television & You

October 17th, 2008 Richard Blackstone Posted in Law of Attraction, Spiritual Growth, Spirituality, enlightenment, fear, mind, universal law of attraction No Comments »

The law of attraction tells us that you bring into your life that which you put your attention on. The secret to life is to put your attention on what serves you and take your attention away from what does not serve you.

Does your spiritual growth come from the television? Does television spew forth spirituality information? We know it uses religion a lot to send its messages but is that the same as spiritual enlightenment? We often create a habit of watching television no matter what it is that we are watching.

We get into a habit of talking bad about others and ourselves and it just seems normal to us. Our environment seems to encourage us to play a role in life that has nothing to do with who we really are. We get feedback daily from the television that encourages us to make decisions that stifle our thinking and therefore our creativity. Our non-conformity conforms to the marketing plans that bombard us daily.

Hey, here’s a novel idea. Don’t turn on the television. It’s just an idea but think about it. The immutable universal law of attraction tells us that we attract into our life that which we put our attention on.

If you watch three to four or more hours of television a day you are putting a lot of attention on whatever it is that you are watching. If you just did this for one day it wouldn’t affect you much, but if you do this every day and maybe a little more on the weekends, then you can begin to see the cumulative effect that this has on the overall input into what you think.

Let’s just take one aspect of television and examine how it influences our lives. Remember these are just words. These are words that we are receiving through our physical sense of hearing with the addition of a visual context that adds emphasis to the overall message.

We are going to look at the national evening news. It doesn’t matter which network you are tuned to because they all say the same things. Every night we are subjected to the lead story, which is the most sensational story of the day. My dictionary defines sensational as: 1. Arousing intense interests 2. Intended to shock, thrill, etc. (Kind of sounds like a carnival show)

Let’s examine this daily input into our thoughts. The commentator has been carefully selected and programmed to create an image of fairness and trust. We are supposed to trust this fair-minded person who is relaying the news of the world to us in an unbiased way. That is the image that they all project to us.

We are lead to believe that they are doing us a great service by reporting to us the information, that puts into summary form, what has happened that particular day that they feel is important to you. Have they ever asked you what is important to you? Or are they trying to tell you what is important to you?

This is how subtle it is and how easy it is to influence collective thinking. Just the mere fact that you are listening to the news means that you are going to be influenced by the news. You may not have had a thought about being sick but the nightly news report tells you there is a national epidemic of the flu going around and, all of a sudden, you begin to wonder if you are going to get the flu. You feel fine but you now have a thought in your head that you might get the flu.

They take a commercial break and the first advertisement is for flu medicine. You didn’t have a thought in your head about being sick just five minutes ago but now you are thinking to yourself that you should probably get some flu medicine tomorrow. You are susceptible to the flu, the nightly news just told you the flu bug is going around and you were fortunate enough to see an advertisement for flu medicine.

The next morning you wake up with a sniffle. You tell yourself, via your thoughts, that you are getting the flu. You go to work and tell a co-worker that you have the flu and will probably miss work in a few days because that is how the flu works on you. Lo and behold, you develop more flu-like symptoms and you become so sick that you can’t go to work for a couple of days.

That’s how subtle it is and that’s how powerful our thoughts and words are. The flu example is bad enough but we are being fed much more sensational news than the flu bug. We are being fed huge doses of fear daily. Morning, noon, and night we are being told, via words on the news that we must live in fear of just about everything that is happening in the world.

We are told to fear the weather, fear earthquakes, fear the flu, fear the poor, fear our enemies, fear our school systems, fear foreigners, fear our food, fear children who commit crimes, fear the environmentalists, fear just about everything. This is the “news” that we subject ourselves to daily.

Now, I am not saying if this is right or wrong. I am only saying that in my observation this is what is so.

One final observation. I will let you answer this yourself since you are the only one who really matters here. Do you believe that the television news is based mostly in fear or in love? What is your answer?

Here’s the kicker question. “Does that serve you?”

Manifesting with the Law of Attraction: Attachment

August 24th, 2008 Joann Posted in Law of Attraction, Manifesting, attachments, desire, fear, happiness, universal law, universe No Comments »

Attachment is one of the major reasons why we fail to manifest our desires through the law of attraction. This is because the very act of desperately desiring something conveys to the universe that something is not in existence in the mental plane or in the material plane. By the law of attraction, that is what it is going to be.

Attachment prevents us from becoming who we truly are and fulfilling our potentials and purpose. Being attached to object/situation/person means we are basing our life’s decisions, our actions and words on that object/situation/people. This alone is a violation of the universal law of life which is flow and freedom.

Wanting something so badly begets all the negative energies that prevents the law of attraction from working in our favor or not working at all. From attachment comes out fear, jealousy, greed, and hopelessness among others. Attachment creates in us a feeling of fear that our desire is not going to be manifested. This is caused by the perception that our happiness greatly depends on this object/situation/person so we MUST HAVE that desire manifested NOW. The irony is that it is not going to manifest because your predominant thought is “fear because of lack.” Remember that the law of attraction manifests your predominant thoughts.

This comes from personal experience. I wanted it to manifest so much because I thought my happiness depends on it. I wanted it to happen the next day, not next week. So my affirmations went something like this, “Please give it now” or “Please manifest it now.” I begged and begged (begging is a big no-no when manifesting with the law of attraction) but nothing happened the next day. So I repeated the same process and still it didn’t manifest. I forgot about it, not intentionally, but it was a good thing because that was when it manifested.

In Magnetizing Your Heart’s Desire, Sharon Warren illustrates the difference between a CREATOR and a REACTOR. Creator is someone who creates with the universe using the law of attraction, while a reactor is just someone who responds to the universe. She also pointed out that the word REACTOR has the same letters as the word CREATOR only in different order.

If you are attached to an object/situation/person, you will never be more than a REACTOR. You will always be responding to this object/situation/person which you consider to be your world or your universe.

Fear of Flying and Visualization

May 31st, 2008 Remez Sasson Posted in Creative Visualization, fear, visualization No Comments »

Some people are afraid to fly. Can visualization help overcome the fear of flying? It might.

Visualize yourself at the airport, feeling happy and joyous that you are
going to fly. Then see yourself going aboard, sitting in your seat and
see the other passengers, stewards and stewardesses.

There is no need to worry or feel stressed while visualizing, as this
is all in your imagination.

Visualize the plane taking off and you on board. Focus on feeling safe, confident and happy. Look through the window and enjoy the view, enjoy the food served, and you may also visualize talking with the other passengers. Also visualize how happy you are, expecting a
great time at your destination.

Repeat this visualization 2-3 times a day, every day, always feeling this is all true and real, and happening right now. Don’t let worries and fears of flying enter your mind, and
don’t express any doubts about what you are doing. Gradually, these mental images and scenes will seep into your subconscious mind and replace your fear of flying.

I am not guaranteeing that this will help every one who tries this method, but it does not cost money to try. Give it a test for one or two weeks, and tell me if this has helped you.

Do you want to find more examples of how to use visualization for various goals? You can read about them in the book Visualize and Achieve.

Praying For What We Don’t Have

May 6th, 2008 Other Authors Posted in Spirituality, fear, helen keller, real health, stress, worry No Comments »

An old friend, Michael, wrote recently. He said he envied my life here in Bali, that he wished he had the courage to live similarly.

He wrote: I worry about finances, health insurance and all that crap. I wish I could free my mind of such things. Could I make ends meet?

Now, some of you reading this have taken the step that he’s afraid to take. You’ve broken out of some conditioning just to live – whether for a moment, a month or forever – outside of the culture in which you grew up.

And it’s all relative. For some, living in a different culture is easy, no challenge, doesn’t require courage. For others it’s huge.

Michael, like many people, has dug himself an early grave and he’s in it. Not buried. There’s still light. He could climb out anytime.

“I worry about finances and health insurance.”

He bought the package. Insurance companies make a fortune off the same fear that he’s living with. And let’s not be fooled, health care, real care, real health, is not their primary concern.

Regardless, there’s no benefit in demonizing the insurance companies. They’re simply doing what they do. Yet Michael is living his life two feet below the surface of the earth.

Of course it’s ‘normal’ to worry about such things. Lots of people do it. Yet what’s ‘normal’ is no better a barometer to what’s healthy or helpful than getting financial tips from a poor person. Worry is making him sick and poor.

I wish I could free my mind of all that crap, he writes.

‘Bullsh&*%t,’ I respond. If he wanted to free his mind he would. As the saying goes ‘try is a lie.’

A couple of examples: “I wish I could have a great job that’s creatively satisfying, lucrative and stress-free.” Some reading this will agree: ‘I do wish that.’ Others, those who have this already, know that it’s not a matter of wishing it – though of course we must vision it first – it’s a matter of creating it. Possible or impossible?

A more obvious example: ‘I wish I could pick up that glass of coconut water.’ A clear example? It really is like Yoda said: “there is no try. There’s only do and don’t do.” If it’s not obvious yet, try it out – try to pick up the nearest object to you. Don’t pick it up, just try.

I’m not saying that it’s always easy, or happens instantly (though it could). Someone might have to work hard to create his or her dream job. It might take them years. The point is not the time, the point is the possibility. Anything is possible. Realizing that we can do whatever we want instantly brings us out of early graves.

Creating what we want is as easy as changing our beliefs. We can do that in an instant. Yet for many of us, it takes courage and power, it takes some momentum, to break out of the constraint of our inheritance, our conditioning.

Of course I understand Michael’s worries. Most everyone has feared there isn’t enough money, even people who’ve had plenty of money their whole life (especially them). That’s the thing. It’s so universally accepted that there isn’t enough money, everyone’s highly susceptible to believing it.

It comes down to a fear that we won’t be secure. Here’s a news flash: WE’RE NOT SECURE. We never will be. There’s no such thing as security. Life is insecure. No matter what we do to protect ourselves, to guarantee our future, we’re vulnerable to change. A tsunami, an earthquake, a stock market crash.

Here’s a good news flash: there’s no security, and there’s nothing to fear. Isn’t it true? Doesn’t something always work out?

Here’s what Helen Keller said about it:

Security is mostly a superstition.
It does not exist in nature
Nor do children as a whole experience it.
Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run
Than outright exposure.
Life is either a daring adventure, or nothing.
To keep our faces toward change and
Behave like free spirits in the presence of fate
Is strength undefeatable.

Michael wrote that he appreciated my response to him, that it was like a ‘summer breeze.’

Now what will he do with it. Snooze?

Whether he climbs up to create the life he wants or not, it’s a reminder for us. Is there something in our lives that we lie to ourselves about and say is impossible? Are we living below our potential (below the ground)?

Alarm bells are ringing. Sometimes it’s a summer breeze and sometimes it’s an earthen tremble. Either brings the question what do we wish to create. The answer is up to us.

Of Fear, Black Widow Spiders and Personal Growth

April 4th, 2008 Edward Mills Posted in Personal Growth, courage, emotions, fear, feelings, spiders No Comments »

I admit it, I like spiders. They get a bad rap. Undeserved, I might add. Not only do they eat a lot of those pesky flies and other bugs, but they often provide great personal growth lessons.

At least they have for me. I’ve already written about the little jumping spider who taught me a lesson about gratitude. And then there was the little guy who sacrificed his beautiful web in order to teach me about where to build my creations.

And now there’s this spider lesson about fear. And while the event that catalyzed this post and the original article happened two years ago, the lesson is still important.

It all began one Saturday morning. My wife came out of the bathroom and said, quite calmly, “Ed, there’s a big black spider in the bathtub.” Since I was watching my daughter, Ella, at the time, I carried her in there to investigate.

I was a bit surprised that my wife did not call it a Brown Recluse. That’s our running joke. She grew up in Brown Recluse territory, and whenever she sees a brownish spider she says “Ed, I just saw a Brown Recluse. Go get it.” And every time she says it, I gently remind her that the Brown Recluse does not live in Northern California as I go to gather up the culprit and take it outside.

But this morning, when Ella and I went to look in the tub, I could understand why Melissa had not called it a Brown Recluse. This spider was a deep shiny black. Now, while most spiders can bite, the only truly dangerous spider in our area is the black widow, a very distinctive, shiny black spider that I had never actually seen. So I’m usually pretty casual about spiders. But the color of this one caused me to act with a bit more caution. And it was good that I did. When I gathered up the critter in a Tupperware bowl, I could see, through the translucent plastic, the distinctive red hourglass on its belly.

Here was my first Black Widow Spider.

This was an exciting day for me. Unfortunately, Melissa did not share in my enthusiasm at this discovery. She promptly took Ella from my arms and commanded me to take the spider far away from the house. I must admit that I was pleased and a bit surprised that she did not insist that I immediately squash it.

Spiders Get A Bad Rap

Now I want to stop and put in a bit of a plug for spiders. They get a bad rap. They take the blame for a lot of stuff they don’t do: flea bites, tick bites, bed bug bites, even mosquito bites. You name it; spiders take the blame for it. Most spiders don’t bite humans, others only bite when confronted, and of those that do bite, there are only a handful that are truly dangerous to humans. (At least here in the US. There are a few countries that have some seriously dangerous spiders!) Even the bite of the supposedly deadly Black Widow is fatal in less than 1% of all instances.

And then there are the legends that have grown up around the infamous Brown Recluse. Over 60% of the medically diagnosed Brown Recluse bites occur in regions in which the spider does not live! How a spider that lives only in the South Central portion of the USA can be responsible for so many unexplained ailments here in California and elsewhere is beyond me.

Here’s a brief excerpt from a spider info site at the University of California to give you some perspective:

This website presents evidence for the lack of brown recluse spiders as part of the Californian spider fauna. Unfortunately, this contradicts what most Californians believe; beliefs that are born out of media-driven hyperbole and erroneous, anxiety-filled public hearsay which is further compounded by medical misdiagnoses.

This DOES Relate To Personal Growth!

At this point, you may be wondering what this has to do with personal growth. Fear not, I do have a point. And as the good Dr. Seuss would say, “This may not seem important I know. But it is, and that’s why I’m bothering telling you so.”

How do you feel about spiders? Do you cringe when you see one walking on your wall? Do you quiver at the thought of one crawling up your leg?

Where do those feelings come from? When you were a youngster, did someone in your family go into paroxysms of fear whenever a spider was spotted? Did you inherit that fear? And does that fear continue to control your relationship with these critters?

Ok, lets face it, a fear of spiders is not going to prevent you from living a successful, abundant, joyous life. But here’s the catch: What fears do you harbor that DO prevent you from living that life? What other fears have you inherited from your family and friends and the culture around you? And how do those fears hold you back from becoming the person you have the potential to be?

Fears Always Appear Larger

Your fear, because it is rooted in the past, always appears much larger than it really are. When we feel fear, we’re almost always reacting to the projection of something that was planted inside us long ago. Just as the shadow of a spider walking in front of a light appears huge and frightening, so too do our fears become magnified many times when we look at the projection. The reality of the spider, when viewed from a place of present-time awareness, is much less scary. So too do your fears become manageable when you shift your perception from the shadow to the source.

Fears thrive on the lies and exaggerations that are possible only in the dark, hidden places. As soon as you bring those fears out into the light you can begin to see them for what they really are. The trick, of course, is knowing how to pull those fears out into the light.

So here’s your assignment:

When you see a spider (or a snake or a mouse or you look down from a balcony or get onto a plane or fill in the blank) and you notice the dread that lives in the pit of your stomach, know that you have a great opportunity to practice shifting your perception.

So the next time you find yourself face to face with a spider (or whatever your fear is) rather than running away or calling for reinforcements, try to stop and breathe for a moment and become an explorer of your inner world. If you need to catch the spider and place it in a hermetically sealed container in order to breathe, that’s ok! And then see if you can observe that spider with the objectivity of a scientist.

This practice will serve you well the next time you find yourself confronted by a fear that really does hold you back from the life you want to live. When you feel yourself quaking as you prepare to give a presentation, when you watch your arms quivering as you walk into a job interview, when your mouth becomes drier than the Sahara desert as you share your portfolio with a gallery owner, whenever you notice yourself entering a place of fear, become a scientist, objectively exploring the phenomenon. Become a neutral observer of your own life. When you discover the source of your fear, you may be surprised to find that the reality is much less scary than the perception.

And just so that you don’t think I’m asking you do something that I’m not, I have a confession to make. Before Ella was born, I would not voluntarily pick up a spider in my hand. While I “logically” knew that it could not hurt me, the ferocious look (and some of them do look quite fearsome if you get up close) and the spider fears I inherited from both of my parents caused me to exercise caution.

But after Ella was born I made a conscious decision to do whatever I could to keep my fears out of her. So now, when I see a spider, and Ella is with me, I’ll just reach over and grab it with my hand. (I do grab a container to relocate those Wolf Spiders: Their bites aren’t that dangerous, but apparently can be quite painful).

I feel the fear as I’m doing it. It’s alive within me as I reach out. But my desire to give Ella the option to choose her path without the weight of my fears is enough to help me push through that fear and grab that little creature.

Remember, courage is not the absence of fear, it is feeling the fear and doing it anyway!

7 Keys to Staying Peaceful

March 21st, 2008 Other Authors Posted in Life, Margo Knox, Meditation, conscious choice, fear, law of perception, self worth, subconscious mind, thought, universal connection, vibration, wish No Comments »

1. When someone says to you “it’s your fault” and the finger is pointed in your direction with accusation. Look carefully at their hand and you will see the other 4 fingers pointing at the accuser. Relinquishing responsibility and playing the blame game is a common human trait.

This usually happens during a time of psychological pain as the feelings get more uncomfortable, we find taking responsibility difficult and therefore blame someone else. It is often hard for us to understand the pain we cause ourselves.

Your world can take the blame, however it will not help you to awaken to your full potential to know yourself as whole and full of self worth

2. This is the first step in standing back from debilitating dramas, and unnecessary conflict, all of which lowers your vibration and leaves you with outcomes that are often not what you had wished.

3. Responsibility is a 100% commitment. It is a commitment to yourself, to knowing what is creating the dramas and conflict because the truth is the 4 fingers are pointing at the owner and in a certain sense one owner is all owners. And you will want to know yourself as not separate from your creations, knowing how your thinking works for you. You are a creator and you must take responsibility for your creations

4. The law of perception, which is an immutable Universal Law says that the degree to which you value guilt will be the degree to which you defend your world and make attack upon someone else. This is where a conscious choice can be made to always choose for self responsibility, no matter the degree of difficulty felt. Standing quiet within the drama you have created feeling the feelings; owning the thoughts as being about you and not the other person and asking for help/guidance from your higher mind or universal connection

However true knowledge has no choice and no opposite

So what will you choose? What will you choose to create?

5. You can choose to continue with the old dramas, over and over creating the same old insanities that you play out with family friends and colleagues, or to ask what the possibilities are of releasing to new and higher vibration thinking.

6. A new way to think that will release those fear based reactions and let you have an honest and peaceful life by shifting your attention to your higher mind and away from the concerns of the limited or lower mind. This peace, you so deserve is your natural right

7. There are practical things that you can do also.

The first of these may be approached through the daily practice of meditation. I simply cannot emphasize enough the importance and extreme value of meditation on many levels. Many people claim that they have no “time” to meditate, which, in and of itself is both at once ironic and symptomatic of the state most people find themselves in today. Not finding “time” for meditation is like not finding “time” for eating, sleeping and the other necessities of life, while at the same time “finding time” to watch soap operas and other such diversions such things on the TV - it is all a matter of priority, the choices being between peace, harmony and Spiritual evolution on the one hand, and uncertainty, fear and often misery on the other. What I suggest is arising 1 hour earlier each and every day, making it a habit that the Subconscious Mind will urge you to maintain, take a warm bath or shower and then meditate properly for at least 20 minutes. This will set you up for a perfect day, while putting everything, including “time” in to a proper perspective. And I wish you a perfect and wonderful day! All the Love in the Universe Margo

7 Effective Ways To Implement Positive Thinking

March 19th, 2008 Other Authors Posted in Affirmations, Dr. Susan Jeffers, Personal Development, Positive Thinking, affirmation, fear, gratitude, intention, mindset, money, negative thoughts, physical manifestation, positive thoughts, subconscious mind No Comments »

Somehow it has become ingrained in us that negative thoughts are more realistic than positive thoughts. This is pure madness, especially since over 90% of what we worry about never happens!

We have to get our heads around the fact that being positive is actually far more realistic than being negative. This is such a difficult concept for most of us to grasp, and we have to purposefully work hard to re-train the brain to think more positively.

Think of it this way: if your body became out of shape you would probably view physical exercise as an effective way to improve its condition—and we must begin looking at the health of our mind in the same way.

Here are 7 valuable exercises that you can start implementing right now to re-train your thinking:

1. Use Verbal Affirmations EVERY Day

An affirmation is a positive statement that something is already happening, and is a very powerful tool you can use to shift your internal dialogue from negative to positive. Come up with a few statements like “I am creating a beautiful day” or “money and success flow to me” and spend 10 minutes every morning (and every night for extra credit) saying them aloud.

Come up with statements that make the most sense for you, and be sure to state them in the present tense, and in a positive form. This is self-talk in its highest sense, and can be very effective.

2. Use Positive Language

When it comes to the language we use, world-renowned author and lecturer Dr. Susan Jeffers says: “It doesn’t matter if we believe the words or not, the mere uttering of them makes the subconscious mind believe them to be true. It is as though the subconscious mind doesn’t know what is true or false, it doesn’t judge, it only reacts to the language that is being fed”.

Many researchers have shown this sentiment to be quite valid, and we must intentionally start using more positive language to shape the worldview of our subconscious mind.

3. Create a Vision Board

A vision board is the physical manifestation of the life you want to be leading. Find images of the house you desire, the places you want to travel, and the job you crave to work and tack them to a corkboard! Be creative and place words and images that are accurate expressions of your inner-most desires.

Constantly add to your vision board put it somewhere you can see it several times a day– even spend a few moments visualizing what it would be like to be living in this life you created. Isn’t this a better way to spend time than in your usual stress mode?

4. Surround Yourself with Positive Images

They could be famous quotes, inspiring pictures, or even your affirmations that you write out on note cards. The point is to always have physical reminders of things you deem positive close by. Print these items out and place them by your desk, near your bed, and in the car! When you get stressed out, give a glance to them and you will begin to get perspective on things and your mind will re-focus!

5. Say “Thank You” 50 Times a Day

Every night before you go to bed, spend 5 minutes saying thank you out loud for the experiences you had that day: the people you interacted with, the work you accomplished, the food you ate, etc…As you do this, really try and feel the gratitude emanate from within.

You can also say thank you 50 times in the morning and get yourself in an extremely grateful mindset for the coming day. These are wonderful practices for becoming more positive!

6. Listen to Inspirational Talks and Music in the Car

The car is the perfect place to flex your muscle of positive thought! Because many of us spend a lot of time driving, make an effort to listen to music that inspires you and makes you feel good. Purchase motivational personal development CD’s and play them while driving.

I mentioned Dr. Susan Jeffers above, and I recently listened to her CD “Feel the Fear and Do It Anyway” in my car three times in a row! Have your car become an oasis of learning and start using the time constructively.

7. Use Positive Thinking While Exercising

If you consistently exercise, this is an excellent time to practice your positive thinking. Say to yourself over and over again: “I am strong and durable” or “I am fast and powerful” and notice the immediate affect these utterances have on your workout. It is absolutely incredible how just saying these words increases your stamina and strength.

By implementing the recommendations in this article, you can literally begin to out talk your chatterbox! With practice, negative patterns of thought will transform to consistent positive thinking.

Even though you may begin to feel better quickly, positive thinking is a life-long pursuit and it is necessary to dedicate to this ”way of life” over the long-haul. Do not get complacent, or the negative chatter box will re-appear…and you don’t want that!
