June 21, Positive Affirmation for Joy

"Joy enhances all my thoughts and feelings."

… Greetings! Our theme is Joy. This third week of the month we work with being and intending for joy at DailyAffirm. Here are comments about today’s affirmation, suggestions for your process, and information about related articles.

About Today’s Affirmation
The essence of this week’s process is embodied in this last of the Being/Intending affirmations. Joy that permeates your thoughts and feelings comes from within you. While you are learning to be joyful, you might remember joy as an afterthought or an add-on. However, true joy is an energy in which you live and move and have your being. When your thoughts and feelings are bathed in joy, they are transformed. And so are you.

About Your Process
I encourage you to re-visit your over-arching intention today, since it is likely to have deepened as a result of working with Being/Intending affirmations all week. Change it or embody it more deeply or define it more clearly or just leave it alone. If you do this with the expectancy of joy, you will find the process enlightening. You will want to be certain that you are clear about your intention and your relationship with joy before you work with the power affirmations that begin tomorrow.

June 20, Positive Affirmation for Joy

"I understand the meaning of joy.
I know that joy is a deep freedom.
"

… Greetings! Our theme is Joy. This third week of the month we work with being and intending for joy at DailyAffirm. Here are comments about today’s affirmation, suggestions for your process, and information about related articles.

About Today’s Affirmation
I have been reflecting on the meaning of "deep freedom" and how that might compare with just "freedom." Freedom is often thought of as "freedom from," for example, freedom from an unhappy relationship or dissatisfying job or slavery or oppression. The joy of such "freedom from" is often short-lived, likely followed by recreating bondage in either similar or different forms. By "deep freedom" I am attempting to convey the depth of freedom that is possible when you live in joy, a joy that comes from deep within you regardless of the outer circumstances or life dramas or relationships with others. (Incidentally, DailyAffirm explores the theme of freedom in October.)

About Your Process
What is the true meaning of joy for you? And if you define joy as a freedom, is it "freedom from" or "freedom to"? Through what experiences have you gained your understanding of the meaning of joy? I suggest you take a few minutes to write — preferably stream of consciousness writing — about the meaning of joy. Let the energy of joy bubble up to teach you its deep meaning. Nothing I nor anyone else can say can teach you as much as you can learn from clear listening deep within you.

"I remember joy. I remember who I Am.
I am alive with the expectancy of joy."

… Greetings! Our theme is Joy. This third week of the month we work with being and intending for joy at DailyAffirm. Here are comments about today’s affirmation, suggestions for your process, and information about related articles.

About Today’s Affirmation
Each sentence in this affirmation presents a different nuance about remembering joy and being joyful. I like the rhythm of all three. I also like the rhythm and meaning of each one, worthy of exploration for many days, gosh, many years! This remembrance that you affirm today is more than remembering historical events, it activates memory at the core of your soul. I Am that I Am.

About Your Process
Consider what it means to remember joy. Re-member means to reconnect, to be associated with a body. When you consider what it means to re-member joy as a consciousness, you reconnect with a body of consciousness. As you say today’s affirmation, feel the buoyant resonance of the word "expectancy." Compare this resonance with the vibration (feelings, senses, sounds) of the word "expectation," which is often heavy pavement on the road to disappointment. Let expectancy lift you up to the possibilities; let expectancy help you to feel the aliveness of joy.

June 18, Positive Affirmation for Joy

June 18th, 2008 Jeanie Marshall Posted in 3-Being/Intending Affirmations, Monthly Theme: Joy No Comments »

"My mission is to bring joy to my world.
I give my attention to joy so that it expands.
"

… Greetings! Our theme is Joy. This third week of the month we work with being and intending for joy at DailyAffirm. Here are comments about today’s affirmation, suggestions for your process, and information about related articles.

About Today’s Affirmation
What a beautiful mission! What you give your attention to expands. If you give your attention to lack, lack expands. If you give your attention to joy, joy expands. If you give your attention to fighting disease, you expand fighting disease as well as both fighting and disease. If you give your attention to abundance, abundance expands. This is a Universal Law, which more and more people are referring to as the "Law of Attraction." The Universe interprets your giving your attention to something as your interest in experiencing more subjects similar to that one. After all, you surely would not give your attention (which is your energy) to anything that you do not want to experience, would you? Think about it.

About Your Process
So, what has your attention today? Is it joy? agony? satisfaction? pain? What? After determining what has your attention, consider…… Is that where you desire your attention to be? Is it worthy of your attention? If your answer is no, change the focus of your attention. If you accomplish nothing else today but to shift your attention from what you do not want (e.g., pain, discomfort, regret, loss) to what you do want, this promises to be a powerful day. Your life will be even more powerful if you practice shifting your attention many times each day.

June 17, Positive Affirmation for Joy

June 17th, 2008 Jeanie Marshall Posted in 3-Being/Intending Affirmations, Monthly Theme: Joy No Comments »

"High intention operates in the midst of joy.
Joy operates in the midst of high intention.
"

… Greetings! Our theme is Joy. This third week of the month we work with being and intending for joy at DailyAffirm. Here are comments about today’s affirmation, suggestions for your process, and information about related articles.

About Today’s Affirmation
This affirmation is effective when using either or both sentences. Joy is an energy that makes the environment more fertile for high intention. High intention is a consciousness which fosters joy. This DailyAffirm process works regularly with the principle of intention because it is a powerful concept, frequently overlooked as the source for all actions. Perhaps you are often unaware of your intention, especially when performing ordinary or regular tasks. By asking "What is my/your/our/the intention?" you bring to the surface the intention you desire to live from and with. You convert ordinary activities to extraordinary activities by raising your intention as high as you can.

About Your Process
Select a project or task that has your attention today. It matters not if it is big or little, just one that has your attention. Got it? (Pause and reflect, if needed.) Now, state an intention with respect to that project or task. Maybe it is simply "to get it done." Now ask yourself, is this a high Intention? A high intention might be to use the task, "to open communication between my boss and me." If your original intention does not seem high enough for you, change it. Now ask yourself, is this high intention joyful? A joyful high intention might be, "to appreciate every moment with my boss as we deepen our relationship." Adjust your intention however you need so that you have a joyful high intention for this task. As tasks present themselves to you throughout this day, you will find it easier to move directly to realizing a joyful high intention.

June 16, Positive Affirmation for Joy

June 16th, 2008 Jeanie Marshall Posted in 3-Being/Intending Affirmations, Monthly Theme: Joy No Comments »

"I deepen my awareness of the consciousness of joy,
from which my gracious actions spring.
"

… Greetings! Our theme is Joy. This third week of the month we work with being and intending for joy at DailyAffirm. Here are comments about today’s affirmation, suggestions for your process, and information about related articles.

About Today’s Affirmation
I often envision consciousness as a sphere or a pool. This sphere or pool is the consciousness in which you move and live and have your being when you work at the depth of these affirmations. Although I have used the word "gracious" to qualify the actions, be assured, you need not be gracious at all in the traditional sense of that word. Sloppy or awkward or clumsy will do just as well. The more you dip into the consciousness of joy, the more gracious are your actions, regardless of how they may be perceived.

About Your Process
Pay close attention to the differences you feel when you are in the consciousness of joy and when you are not in the consciousness of joy. Which do you prefer? Intellectually, you probably opt for the most frequent and obvious response, usually emphatically, "IN JOY!" However, you may have become accustomed to being annoyed or angry or resentful or grumpy or depressed. If you quickly and authentically express such negative feelings as these, you may be amazed how easily you can move yourself toward joy. The key is to find places to put your attention that prompt you to feel just a little better than the negative emotion you frequently feel. Today, give yourself permission to be. Give yourself permission to be human — not as an excuse to screw up, but as a gesture of self-love and grace.

June 15, Positive Affirmation for Joy

June 15th, 2008 Jeanie Marshall Posted in 3-Being/Intending Affirmations, Monthly Theme: Joy No Comments »

"I know that joy leads to the highest good for all."

… Greetings! Our theme is Joy. This third week of the month we work with being and intending for joy at DailyAffirm. Here are comments about today’s affirmation, suggestions for your process, and information about related articles.

About Today’s Affirmation
Joy is both a path and an energy that propels you on a path. When you live in the consciousness of joy, you can more easily accept the concept of the highest good for all. It is obvious when you are in the consciousness of joy that the highest good for all does exist; however, this is elusive until you let go of the belief that you have figured out what the specific good is for each. It is tempting sometimes to try to take control, have judgments, and express opinions. You can experience a power beyond words when you hold a space for the manifestation of the highest good for all, letting go of control, judgments, and opinions. You can affirm the highest good for all as a consciousness without knowing the specific outcomes.

About Your Process
With your over-arching intention for joy in the forefront of your mind, consider what "highest good" means to you. You may find it helpful to identify a real situation in your life, although beware the trap of thinking you know what is best in a situation that is too close or emotionally charged. You may find it more helpful to focus on a real situation in someone else’s life or one in your own life that is of minor importance. Envision joy operating in the situation you have chosen; let this joy be the energy that creates the highest good. Just joy, now, no opinions. If you are a helping professional, you will find this approach enhances your work greatly without giving up anything you are already doing (unless, of course, you hold onto control and judgments and opinions).

Positive Affirmations for the Week of June 15-21, Joy

June 15th, 2008 Jeanie Marshall Posted in 3-Being/Intending Affirmations, Monthly Theme: Joy, Week 3, Weekly Messages No Comments »

Greetings! In this message, I’ll give you an overview of the next seven days of the DailyAffirm Process. The sidebars provide you with additional information. Read the messages Day by Day, or simply check in when the spirit moves you. If you prefer to receive the daily messages or alters by email, please subscribe to one of our email alert lists (check the options on the navigation bar).

Remind yourself of your over-arching intention for joy. Your statement serves as an umbrella over the whole month’s exploration of joy. It is especially helpful to re-visit your over-arching intention as you work and play with this week’s Being and Intending Affirmations.

About Being/Intending Affirmations and Joy
"To be" and "to intend" are companion ideas, associated also with mission and purpose. It is from your being and your intending that you create and act. Next week, DailyAffirm focuses on doing, acting, claiming, and manifesting. This week, though, stay focused on the consciousness from which you act. Many people choose to go on spiritual retreats or vision quests or to engage in dream journaling or other kinds of inward exploration in order to understand more fully who they are or who they want to become. I advocate that you choose to (under)stand right where are.

About your Process in the Third Week
So, here’s the big question of the week: what is your life mission? If your immediate response is your job or career or role, my next question is: what is your life mission? Or I might vary the question and ask: What is your purpose for being on the planet? Or, who are you here to be? You are here in the context of a larger whole. You are here to do, certainly. But, who ARE you? Who are YOU? What is your higher purpose? If you are uncertain, let yourself accept the uncertainty. And return to the questions, who are you? What is your life mission? (Please note: answers to such questions need not be the same each time. As you keep asking yourself these questions, you will become more and more comfortable with a grand variety and richness of answers.) So, who are you? What is your life mission?

About the Affirmations in the Third Week
If I were to select the definitive affirmation for the week to represent being and intending for Joy it would be "I give my attention to joy so that it expands." The Universe is ever-expanding and this expansion is based on the focus of your (and our collective) attention.

May 21, Positive Affirmation for Trust

May 21st, 2008 Jeanie Marshall Posted in 3-Being/Intending Affirmations, Monthly Theme: Trust No Comments »

Trust enhances all my thoughts and feelings.

Greetings! Our theme is Trust. This third week of the month we work with our being and intention for trust at DailyAffirm. Here are comments about today’s affirmation, suggestions for your process, and information about related articles.

About Today’s Affirmation
I appreciate the simplicity of today’s affirmation. The idea that every single thought and feeling is enhanced by trust is uplifting. For this affirmation to be effective, you do not need to be concerned about your definition of trust, nor do you need to identify the specific thoughts or feelings that are enhanced. Definitions and specifics are bonuses. The essence of this affirmation is to let the energy of trust work for you through your intention. Show up and trust. All else flows from that consciousness.

About Your Process
This last day of the third week is the perfect day to re-visit the over-arching intention you set at the beginning of the exploration of Trust. After clearing out in the first week, opening up in the second week, and relating to trust in specific situations in this third week, you perhaps have a deeper connection with your over-arching intention. You may want to check that your over-arching intention is clear and simple, one that works for you at all times, in all places, with respect to trust.

May 20, Positive Affirmation for Trust

May 20th, 2008 Jeanie Marshall Posted in 3-Being/Intending Affirmations, Monthly Theme: Trust No Comments »

I understand the meaning of trust.
I know that when I trust myself, I trust others.

Greetings! Our theme is Trust. This third week of the month we work with our being and intention for trust at DailyAffirm. Here are comments about today’s affirmation, suggestions for your process, and information about related articles.

About Today’s Affirmation
Today’s affirmation is the one which best presents my own definition of "trust." When you truly know the meaning of trust, you transcend the mental processes, that is, you do not merely recognize or think about trust, you know trust. The deepest meaning of trust is an experience which no words can convey, yet it can be empowering to attempt to find the words that represent or name the experience as authentically as possible.

Here’s an example: I facilitated a corporate team building event for five powerful persons for whom "trust" had been an issue repeatedly identified in the advance interviews. On the afternoon of the second/last day, one of the participants said, "This is it. This is trust." We all paused. In the silence we could feel it. In that moment, words to describe the feeling would have been hollow, indeed, yet his clear and succinct words named the moment for us to breathe in and experience.

About Your Process
Identify a situation (a relationship, place in nature, book, teacher, prayer, silence, etc.) in which you know trust. You have no doubt; you know trust. Breathe in trust. Feel it. Sense it. Notice its texture. See its color. Hear its vibration. Let your lips touch it as you whisper or shout "trust." Describe it. Throughout my many years as a group process facilitator and consultant, I have repeatedly observed positive results when folks verbalize their visions and dreams and goals to others, especially others who care. If this feels appropriate to you (trust yourself to know if this is appropriate or not), share your Trust Vision Statement (as described with yesterday’s affirmation) with a trusted friend.

I remember to trust. I trust myself.
I remember who I Am.

Greetings! Our theme is Trust. This third week of the month we work with our being and intention for trust at DailyAffirm. Here are comments about today’s affirmation, suggestions for your process, and information about related articles.

About Today’s Affirmation
Sometimes you just forget. Acknowledge your forgetfulness as an aspect of the human condition, without falling into the trap of blame or guilt. Forgetfulness can be the result of any number of possible causes, and sometimes is just as simple as having the focus of your attention on something other than the subject you have forgotten. Today’s affirmation challenges you to remember on many levels: to remember the idea of trust, to remember yourself, and to remember the divine. It is time to remember; it is time to re-member.

About Your Process
As you are understanding yourself and trust more deeply, you may find that a Trust Vision Statement supports you. Your vision statement may be your over-arching intention for the month, the dream(s) in which you trust, your definition of trust, or your desired manifestation. When you have developed a Trust Vision Statement that you are pleased with, put it in a place that allows you to give it your attention at various times throughout the day. Let the Trust Vision Statement change if needed. It can help you to remember who you are.

My mission is to embrace trust in my world.

Greetings! Our theme is Trust. This third week of the month we work with our being and intention for trust at DailyAffirm. Here are comments about today’s affirmation, suggestions for your process, and information about related articles.

About Today’s Affirmation
This is a worthy mission! As you embrace trust in ways that feel personal, you make a powerful contribution to the world. Think of what a different world it would be if you and everyone else trusted each other! Wow! In an instant, the world would be transformed. In the meantime, though, you can transform Your World, because Your World is where you give your attention. "World Peace is a Personal Choice." You get to choose the world in which you live by the focus of your attention.

About Your Process
You have your own unique, individual, personalized, and singular process. Running parallel to your unique process is the universal process. If you look carefully, you are likely to find that your process and the universal process are astoundingly similar. This similarity does not diminish your uniqueness, but supports and honors it. Perhaps you have stepped through a dark wall of despair, fear, doubt, and toxicity. Throughout history, humans have been clever about stepping around the wall (denying it), going over it (overcoming it), blasting into it (forcing or struggling with it), and lifting it up (glorifying it).

It is time now to walk through it with your light. Oops! Be careful not to drop the light, believing that the darkness is omnipresent. The heaviness you are experiencing in yourself and/or others right now is the confirmation that the transformative process is working. You are walking through the darkness with your light. Embrace your mission.

May 17, Positive Affirmation for Trust

May 17th, 2008 Jeanie Marshall Posted in 3-Being/Intending Affirmations, Monthly Theme: Trust No Comments »

High intention operates in the midst of trust.
Trust operates in the midst of high intention.

Greetings! Our theme is Trust. This third week of the month we work with our being and intention for trust at DailyAffirm. Here are comments about today’s affirmation, suggestions for your process, and information about related articles.

About Today’s Affirmation
This is just beyond the middle and still in the midst of this month’s exploration of trust. This is the perfect vantage point for you to look backward to the over-arching intention you set initially, and look forward to the vision you hold of trust. Trust requires a fertile environment in which to operate in its fullness. Of course, it is important to create this environment in ways that are already familiar to you and in ways that foster familiarity. If you get stuck in appearances — that is, trying to make things look safe and trusting — you may handle the immediate situation adequately, but you do not necessarily build trust. It is preferable for trust to operate simply because you are present and authentic, not because you have performed tricks or used neat techniques or masked pain.

About Your Process
Embedded within your over-arching intention for Trust is the belief you hold about the definition of trust. If you believe trust is like an automobile, for example, you know that the vehicle requires certain elements and conditions in order to operate. If you consider that "trust" is a synonym for "faith," you want to be clear in what you have faith. Faith in fear or danger does not facilitate empowerment as, say, faith in yourself or faith in love. As you ponder what trust is and how it operates, you may find that more spaces open for experience of trust, as trust does require an expanded energy field. P.S. It’s O.K. to look in your dictionary or thesaurus to read definitions of "trust."

May 16, Positive Affirmation for Trust

May 16th, 2008 Jeanie Marshall Posted in 3-Being/Intending Affirmations, Monthly Theme: Trust No Comments »

I deepen my awareness of the consciousness of trust,
from which my truthful actions spring.

Greetings! Our theme is Trust. This third week of the month we work with our being and intention for trust at DailyAffirm. Here are comments about today’s affirmation, suggestions for your process, and information about related articles.

About Today’s Affirmation
Consciousness is the stuff from which manifestations and actions are created. As you become more aware of the energy of those things that you desire to create and experience, you find that manifesting your dreams is effortless and enjoyable. You can accelerate your process by becoming more familiar with energetics. If, for example, you desire to speak the truth, you must be able to recognize the energy of truth wherever it exists, regardless of the packaging. You can become quite distracted by packaging (e.g., superficially beautiful people with shallow personalities), and convinced of falsehoods (e.g., viewpoints presented and re-presented as facts in the media), and overcome by your own distresses (e.g., demands that overly stretch you). You might trust such things because you see or hear or touch them, usually repeatedly. Let today’s affirmation challenges you to go deeper than the surface.

About Your Process
What is the one most important thing you desire to accomplish today? (Yes, I know there are many things you desire to accomplish today and, furthermore, that you will accomplish far more than one thing. But, humor me, pick one.) Got it? Now ask yourself some questions about this thing: What is your intention? What purpose does this thing have in your life? How much do you trust yourself to accomplish the highest good for all through this thing? What is your truth with respect to this thing? Take a deep breath to deepen your awareness of the consciousness of trust. Repeat these four questions. Trust the process.

I know that trust leads to the highest good for all.

Greetings! Our theme is Trust. This third week of the month we work with our being and intention for trust at DailyAffirm. Here are comments about today’s affirmation, suggestions for your process, and information about related articles.

About Today’s Affirmation
The word "know" when applied to spiritual ideas means embodying higher consciousness rather than recognizing or naming facts. "Spiritual realization" is the perfect euphemism for this knowing, but that is a mouthful. The energy that accompanies this knowing is strong and pure. Often it is important to affirm this kind of knowing quietly. To know and to be silent is one of many initiations along an intentional spiritual path. I have witnessed powerful transformation occur while being in this consciousness of knowing the highest good for all.

About Your Process
The beginning of this third week, which focuses on being/intending affirmations, is an appropriate time to re-visit the over-arching intention that you set at the beginning of your exploration of Trust. This week also allows you to know at a deeper level what your over-arching intention about trust can mean to your life. Today, you may wish to identify a specific situation which can benefit from an infusion of deep knowing and spiritual realization.
