June 14, Positive Affirmation for Joy

"I am ready right now to live in joy."

… Greetings! Our theme is Joy. This second week of the month we work with receiving and accepting joy at DailyAffirm. Here are comments about today’s affirmation, suggestions for your process, and information about related articles.

About Today’s Affirmation
Many beautiful affirmations are popular these days. The reason that some of these beautiful affirmations "don’t work" is that the people saying them are not ready to believe them because of opposing beliefs that are stronger. If you do not believe the phrase "I am joyful," saying it repeatedly will not make you joyful. This is especially true if you limit yourself to repeatedly saying "I am joyful" for twenty minutes in the morning and then forget to be joyful and proceed to give your attention to non-joy. DailyAffirm is a process with different parts and cycles to open you to live in joy, rather than a steady stream of power statements for you to repeat. Honor that you have a full range of human experiences, some of which need to be released, completed, and forgotten.

About Your Process
The flavor and rhythm of the DailyAffirm Process shifts tomorrow to Being/Intending Affirmations. As you approach the half-way point of the month, this is a perfect time to re-visit the over-arching intention you set for Joy. "The highest good for all" is my favorite, all purpose, generic high intention. Examples of statements for over-arching intention for Joy are:

  • To live in joy, to enjoy life. I intend to know joy.
  • By the end of the month, to feel joy in a deeper way.
  • To live in the consciousness of joy, not changed by outer circumstances.
  • To shift my attention from non-joy to joy as soon as I can.
  • To trust that the highest good is always operating.
  • To live my life joyfully, from the inside out.

About the Next Type of Affirmations
Tomorrow the Being/Intending affirmations begin. Today is a good day to reflect on all that you have received so that you can explore more deeply who you are. Please also re-visit your over-arching intention for Joy because you will use that as a foundation for exploration.

Make this a ready day!

"I accept peace, joy, health, and love in all aspects of my life."

… Greetings! Our theme is Joy. This second week of the month we work with receiving and accepting joy at DailyAffirm. Here are comments about today’s affirmation, suggestions for your process, and information about related articles.

About Today’s Affirmation
Today’s affirmation captures the essence of this whole week of affirmations about receiving and accepting joy. Its simplicity is profound. Peace and harmony and health and freedom and love and kindness can be considered companions of joy. Sometimes tension or discomfort makes you more ready to accept joy and its companions. Sometimes newness or enthusiasm accelerates your readiness. Whether it is by surprise or planning, bless the events or conditions that help you to accept joy and its companions.

About Your Process
Today, you may want to look at those parts of your life that are open to accept peace and joy and health and love. And then breathe these energies into those parts. If you believe you still have non-joy to release, you may want to affirm with your breathing: "I breathe in joy, I breathe out non-joy." When you believe you have cleared enough non-joy so that it does not block you, use your breath to breathe joy and peace and health and love into those parts of your life that are ready to accept these energies.

June 12, Positive Affirmation for Joy

"Joy, you are my friend. Let’s play together!"

… Greetings! Our theme is Joy. This second week of the month we work with receiving and accepting joy at DailyAffirm. Here are comments about today’s affirmation, suggestions for your process, and information about related articles.

About Today’s Affirmation
This is such a playful affirmation. I chuckled when I received a request to cancel a DailyAffirm List subscription years ago which said: "Please cancel my subscription to your Daily Affirmations. At this time I am still working on ‘You are my friend,’ believe it or not!" I do believe it (and I emailed him a message saying that). I consider "you are my friend" to be a life-changing concept. I expect that in much of your upbringing, your associations with siblings and playmates often led to beliefs of "not enough" or that one person was better or less than another. When you compete in school, these ideas are reinforced in another way. And, in the business world competition is intensified in yet another way. How transformational to accept that everyone is your friend!

About Your Process
Here is a suggestion for working with this affirmation today: consider every one and every thing to be your friend. As you take your car keys in your hand, say (out loud if no one is around or silently to yourself), "you are my friend." As you pick up a ringing phone to say hello, think to yourself, "you are my friend." As you look at yourself in a mirror or shiny surface, think, "you are my friend." If you desire, you can add words or ideas about "joy" and "play." Just accepting everyone and everything as your friend will put you in the consciousness of joy and fun. How can you look at a piece of lettuce balanced on a fork while saying "you are my friend" without laughing or giggling or smiling?

June 11, Positive Affirmation for Joy

"Dear God,
allow me to see joy in a way that I can understand.
"

… Greetings! Our theme is Joy. This second week of the month we work with receiving and accepting joy at DailyAffirm. Here are comments about today’s affirmation, suggestions for your process, and information about related articles.

About Today’s Affirmation
You may look for joy in certain things. You may look for another person to bring joy into your life. You may expect your career successes to bring you joy. But true joy comes from the inside. It is your job to bring joy into situations rather than to expect get joy from situations. It is disempowering to believe that your joy is dependent on something outside yourself or that your joy is dependent on a "thing" at all. Joy is an energy, a life-giving force. Today’s affirmation asks for assistance in perceiving joy as you can accept it now, wherever you are in consciousness. Perhaps three years ago you saw and understood it one way; perhaps tomorrow you will see and understand it yet another way. Today, see it as you can accept it now.

About Your Process
It has been a while since I have verbalized an encouragement to you to edit or otherwise rearrange the words in the daily affirmations. My intention is to write these affirmations so that a broad number of folks with different philosophies can relate to them. You know when the process is working for you. And when it is not, you can change the process or the affirmation or both. So, today you might think of all the different ways to express the essence of this affirmation.
